(Written in response to someone who questioned the
validity and/or inspiration of the Nicene Creed, which is a summary
of beliefs for all Orthodox, and other, Christians)
You asked me if this Creed is inspired. Well, the innumerable
insights of the Creed that brilliantly stand up to Scripture tell me
that there has to be some inspiration behind it. Also, because of
the bombardment of the Church coming from the many heresies then as
there are now, the Church issued and subsequently added into the
Creed more statements in order to further protect the Faith. To me
this creed is not cast in stone. The Church might even alter it
again to once again protect the Faith against such major modern day
heresies such as “once saved always saved”. Who knows?
Here is the Nicene Creed:
I believe in (Romans 10: 8-10; 1
