Welcome to Our Parish!

Dear Internet Visitor,

Welcome to the website for Saint Katherine Orthodox Church in Pelion, South Carolina.  We hope you enjoy using this website, and will take the time to experience the Divine Liturgy on Sunday mornings at 10:30am (doors open at 9:30am).

Here's a little introduction to who we are...

As Orthodox Christians, we follow the Traditions and Scriptures of the early Christian Church established by Jesus Christ through His Apostles and passed down through their successors, the Bishops.  People who are looking for a deeply serious way to worship God, will be very comfortable here.  Until recently, the only places Americans could go to find this kind of worship and teachings were places established to help immigrants from Eastern countries like Russian, Greece, Antioch and Syria.  Many Americans and Europeans are not comfortable with the idea of having to immerse themselves in a foreign eastern culture.

In order to reach more Americans and Europeans, the Bishops of the Eastern Orthodox Church approved the establishment of new mission churches with a western style and approach to worship.  While still fully connected to the Traditions and Scriptures of the early Christian Church, we now have the ability to worship in a way that is more familiar and open to Americans and Europeans...especially those familiar to "High Church" worship services (candles, incense, chanting/singing of Scriptures, etc.).

What you will find at our church is a sincere, deep, and humble desire to worship God (the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit) the same way as is described throughout the Bible and practiced since the beginning of the early Christian Church through today.

Our local Parish is a new mission of the Orthodox Christian Church, and we serve people in the middle and southern parts of Lexington County (Red Bank, Pelion, Gaston, Swansea and other surrounding cities).

If you'd like to make an appointment to come by, feel free to contact us by email or phone.

God bless you!
